Can My Good Deeds Save Me?

If you can get to heaven by your own good deeds, then, in heaven, you will be able to boast about yourself.  Without your good deeds, you could not have made it. You can praise God and you can also praise yourself.

You think this is what heaven will be like? Lots of boasting, showing off, pride, arrogance, selfishness, self-centredness? This does not sound like the true heaven. God will not allow anything unholy into heaven and that includes hidden pride.

If you can make it by your own good deeds, why do you need God?

The truth is ONLY GOD can save, if we humble ourselves to ALLOW Him to save us.  We cannot do it on our own. Religion cannot save us. Good deeds cannot save us. Only God can save us.

Scripture says:

“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
