Where Is The Gospel Of Jesus?

“Where is the Gospel of Jesus?”

Muslims have been taught to challenge Christians with this question. However, Muslims do not realize there is a flaw in this type of questioning. Very simply, The “Gospel Of Jesus” means different things to a Muslim and to a Christian.

Let me explain.

In Islam, the “Gospel of Jesus” is a BOOK (Injeel) that Allah allegedly revealed and sent down to Isa, son of Mariam (and nephew of Haron). Muslims claim that later on, somehow, this book got lost or corrupted, even though the Quran never states this.

If the book that Allah sent was lost or corrupted, we can conclude that, either Isa and/or his followers were careless and Allah was irresponsible because he failed to preserve his own book. (Incidentally, Islam is the only religion in the world and in history that insults its own deity by claiming that its own book was lost or corrupted.)

If you ask a Muslim how this book of Allah was corrupted, most of them would point their finger at Paul. But this adds insult to injury, because this means, a mere man single-handedly managed to wipe out the words of Allah! Allah, and all his angels, and all his 124,000 messengers, could do nothing to prevent it! What a shame! And so Muslims believe that this book, “Gospel of Jesus” does not exist anymore today.

Now, do you understand why Muslims ask this question – “Where is the Gospel of Jesus?” Because they think they have a gotcha question that stumps Christians and debunks Christianity. They think that Christians also believe, like them, that God was incompetent and lost his own book. No, we don’t.

Muslims must remember that Christians do not believe this Islamic narrative. We do not believe that God gave Jesus a book. As far as we are concerned, that was just Muhammad’s imagination. Gospel is not the name of a book. Muhammad was ignorant and thought that Gospel, (injeel), was the name of a book. Dear Muslims, this is your belief, not ours!

In fact, this means the burden of proof for the whereabouts of this imaginary “Gospel of Jesus” is on Muslims. You have to show us this “Islamic injeel of Isa” instead of asking us to prove what you believe! See how silly this premise is. You can believe whatever you want about your Injeel in your religion – that the book from Allah came to Jesus on a flying carpet or a flying donkey, whatever it is – but don’t ask us to prove your beliefs about it! You prove it!

When you ask Christians, “Where is the Gospel of Jesus?”, that’s what you are doing. You are asking Christians to prove your beliefs. You are the ones making a claim for the existence of such a book, therefore, you are the ones who need to bring the book as evidence, or at least, prove that it even existed once upon a time.

As far as Christians are concerned, Gospel is not the name of a book. Gospel literally means “Good News.” A gospel is simply an announcement. For example, look at this verse:

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord…”

Luke 2:10-11

Did you notice the phrase “good news” in the verse above? That’s the same word used for the word “gospel.” Was the angel talking about “a book”? No. Then what was the gospel the angel meant?

The ANNOUNCEMENT he made was GOSPEL / GOOD NEWS.

Here’s another example.

Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”

Galatians 3:8

This verse teaches that the gospel was announced to Abraham! Does this mean Abraham received a book? No. He heard the announcement of good news. That’s the gospel. The gospel is not a book that existed during the time of Jesus. The gospel existed long before Abraham!

Likewise, when we talk about the Gospel of Mark or the Gospel of John, what it means is an announcement of good news by Mark, John, et. al.

What was that announcement of good news (gospel) about? Jesus Christ!

Now you know why I say Muslims and Christians have very different understanding of the word “Gospel.” If Muslims claim it is the name of a book given to Isa, no problem. That’s your belief, go ahead and prove that this Islamic claim is valid by showing this book as evidence that it even existed. Don’t ask us to produce it. We don’t believe your narrative.

Muslims know absolutely nothing about their “injeel of Isa”. What does it contain? How many chapters or verses? They can’t even quote a single verse from this book. Was it Allah’s speech? Was it Isa’s speech? What language was it in? Was it memorised? Was it copied down? When? By whom? Was it translated? When? Was it distributed? To whom? Where? What happened to it after Allah allegedly gave it to Isa? Muslims have zero knoweledge about anything to do with this book. Islam has no answers. How dare Muslims ask Christians to show them the Islamic injeel!

You don’t have your “islamic gospel” which Allah and Isa fumbled spectacularly to lose. So don’t ask us for it to get Allah out of trouble. We have our gospel, which is the announcement of good news by the disciples of Jesus. We have always had it for the last 2000 years.

Jesus said: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away”.

Matthew 24:35

Where can we find this gospel/good news? In the Bible. Take a look at Mark 1:1. “This is the beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.” If I can paraphrase it, Mark, who was the scribe of the Apostle Peter, was essentially saying, “Here is the beginning of the announcement of good news about Jesus Christ, the Son of God…” We know what books it contains. We know the number of chapters and verses. We know the original language it was written in and who wrote it. We know when it was translated and where it was distributed to. In fact, we have thousands of manuscripts that prove our gospel. Meanwhile, Muslims do not have even one shred of evidence for their non-existent “Islamic gospel”.

Here is the final nail in the coffin of Islam….

While all Muslims claim that the Christian Gospel is lost or corrupted, this is not what the Quran teaches. Allah tells Christians to judge by their Gospel.

Let the People of the Gospel judge by that which Allah hath revealed therein. Whoso judgeth not by that which Allah hath revealed: such are evil-livers.

Sura 5:47

Remember this was in the 7th century. This means that, in the 7th century, the Christians were to judge by their Gospel, not by the Quran.

“And when there cometh unto them a scripture from Allah, confirming that in their possession…”

Sura 2:89

This verse confirms that Christians (and Jews) had their own books in their possession. The Quran confirms the Scriptures of the Christians and Jews. It was not lost or corrupted. Again, this was in the 7th century. The Gospel was in the hands of the Christians at the time.

Today we have manuscripts not just from the time of Muhammad in the 7th century, but even from hundreds of years before Muhammad. These ancient manuscripts are virtually the same as the Bible today.

So when was the Gospel allegedly corrupted or changed or lost? The Quran repeatedly affirms the preservation and authority of the Gospel. Allah commanded the Christians to follow and judge by their Gospel. If the Gospel was lost or corrupted, why would he tell them to do so?

Even if Muslims claim that the Christian gospel was corrupted or lost after the 7th century, does it mean this revelation from Allah is now obsolete? Has parts of the Quran become obsolete today? Or was Allah ignorant about this? Why did he tell the Christians to judge by their Gospel if he knew it would become corrupted or lost later? The thousands of manuscripts we have today from before Muhammad’s time prove the Gospel we have today is preserved.

Even when Muhammad had doubts in the revelation of the Quran, Allah told him to go ask the Christians and Jews because they were adept in their Scriptures before Muhammad. If the Christians did not have their book, or it was lost or corrupted, why would Allah tell Muhammad to consult them for help to set him straight. “So if you are in doubt, [O Muhammad], about that which We have revealed to you, then ask those who have been reading the Scripture before you.” Sura 10:94.

The conclusion is inevitable. If the Quran affirms the authority and the preservation of the Gospel, then why do Muslims today insist that the Gospel is lost corrupted? Simple. Because when Muslims read the Gospel, it condemns Muhammad as a fraud and Islam as a false religion. Of ccourse, they cannot accept this. So they have no choice but to say the Gospel is lost or corrupted. In their imagination, they have a different “gospel of Jesus” book that they dream must surely support Muhammad and the religion he created. Like I said, prove it. Bring this book and let the world see what it contains. No one can. Let’s face it. If there was evidence for such a book, Muslims would have brought it a long time ago to challenge the Christian gospel.
